MEXICO

Our first home base will be in San Miguel de Allende, a place Glenn has lived in before, and we have visited numerous times. Mexico is close to the USA and has such a diverse culture and landscape that it is perfect for our first steps into International Retirement Living. There are many options to change our environment should we desire a break from the central highlands and want to head off to explore beaches or larger cities. Our first year will be one of staying in Mexico until our investments start kicking in. So being able to head down to Mexico City to catch a cheap flight to new destinations in Mexico will be a big goal of ours since we want to see as much of our new country as we can. I have only visited a few places in Mexico as yet, so I have a long bucket list. Glenn has more experience here so I will gladly look to him to be my tour guide and have him show me the places he loves. It is exciting to have this new challenge and we look forwarded to the coming years of exploring and meeting new friends.

UPDATE: We have been temporary residents of Mexico for almost 2 years now (Jan 2020) and have been able to see a bit of the country, 21 places to be exact. (Guanajuato, Queretero, Mexico City, Puebla, Cholula, Puerto Vallarta, Bucerias, Sayulita, Zihuatanejo, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Isla Holbox, Valladolid, Izamal, Bacalar, Progresso, Celustun,  Merida, Uxmal, Leon and Campeche). With so much still out there, we can’t wait to see what is next.
