When I met Ria in 1993 she was one crazy, energetic woman and still is. She keeps me on my toes. Our relationship has flourished through good times and challenging times, and now we are about to embark on a new phase of our lives together. My initial international travel experience was when I joined my high school senior class for a whirlwind tip through Europe. This set me up for a life long interest in other cultures and peoples. I started my career in the travel industry 35 years ago at a small company selling Hawaii, Caribbean and Mexico packages. After 4 years, I decided to spread my wings and go off to travel with a buddy the entire length of Latin America from California to Argentina. This was a year of machete wielding through jungles, hiking to mountain tops, cruising through the Amazon, confronting the paramilitary, chased by wild boars, boating through the Galapagos and more, all while trying to increase my knowledge of Spanish. When I returned, I joined Council Travel where I met my wife Ria and started the adventure travel side of my career. Throughout these years, I’ve been able to explore the world via 3 around the world trips with durations of one year each and have done numerous shorter trips. I’ve been mistaken for a falcon smuggler and was a jail bird in Western China for a night, confronted the Mujahideen in Pakistan, hung out at an Afghani refugee camp in Peshawar, hiked the Karakarom highway and the Annapurna circuit in Nepal, did hill tribe trekking in Laos and Vietnam and rafted the Zambezi amongst my other adventures. For the last 20 years, I’ve worked for AirTreks, International (formerly High Adventure Travel) from which I retired in December, 2017. Now the retirement years are ahead and a whole new adventure awaits with our move to Mexico in 2018. Our goal is to be temporary residents of Mexico, eventually getting permanent residency, and have San Miguel de Allende be our home base while traveling several months a year throughout the world. With Ria by my side anything is possible.

Glenn, I am so glad to see these pictures! I had to laugh, though. You remind me of Zelig, the character in the Woody Allen movie, where he takes on the persona of whoever and wherever he is! You fit in anywhere! Keep enjoying your travels. Hope our paths cross again someday!
