Our Spingolo Family Xmas Bash was probably the last time the whole gang will get together before we leave. It is weird to think about our lives changing so much in the near future. When Glenn was growing up his mom hosted the family gatherings at Xmas where up to 50-75 family, friends and neighbors came. I have heard the stories of the raucous characters that made up this crowd and wish I could have seen them all in action. But the fond reminiscences of the group make me feel like I know those lively people of the past. The original group now, though different and older, are a lot of fun and their parties are so enjoyable. And of course there are the new generations coming up and joining in. I will miss these get togethers and know it will be very difficult for Glenn to be away during the holidays. But San Miguel de Allende is known for its celebrations and we will start new traditions of our own and perhaps we will have visitors to experience them with. This year though over 60 people attended for a huge buffet, the singing of carols, Santa giving out presents to the little ones, a cookie contest and of course a little booze to liven the day.
We plan to stay in Mexico all of next year due to finances and time. But will return in April of 2019 when we pass through the Bay Area to do our taxes and continue on to visit Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. So we hope we can see a lot of our family and friends as we swing through in either direction. And, perhaps there will be a party or two.
