The last time Glenn visited the Yucatan was in 1993 and starting with our brief stay in Playa del Carmen he was amazed at how it has changed!!! This was my first time in this area and I was anxious to learn more about our new home country while getting a bit of sun. The Yucatan is actually a region of southeast Mexico and is made up of several states, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Yucatan. We visited all three. The Mexican Riviera stretches from Cancun to Tulum in Quintana Roo and is probably the most well-known area.
We spent time in Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Valladolid, Merida, Izamal, Uxmal, and Campeche where we checked out possible places to hang out in the future when San Miguel de Allende is a bit colder than we like. Here for just a bit under 2 months total, we played tourist in Playa and Tulum. Then we spent a month in Merida, renting an Airbnb, as we delved a bit more into the culture, present, and past. Enjoy the following posts to see what thought of our Yucatan Adventure. Quintana Roo, State of Yucatan, State of Campeche
